US Ambassador to Uzbekistan Ms. Pamela Spratlen visited the Khorezm region from 13 to 14 October. The ambassador met with hokim of the region Pulat Babadzhanov in Urgench and visited the regional tuberculosis clinic, to which USAID provides material assistance. She also participated in the opening ceremony of the Khorezm Regional Diagnostic Laboratory, established with the support of the US Agency for the Reduction of External Threat.
She delivered a speech before the students of Urgench State University, got acquainted with the Access program created by the embassy for teaching English and, using a business visit, she got acquainted with the sights of the region in the company of graduates of the educational program of the embassy.
In Khiva, the US ambassador visited Tosh Hovley, located in the open-air museum of Ichan Kala. Tosh Hovley is a potential recipient of a grant from the US Ambassador's special fund for the preservation of cultural heritage.
